Jessica spends much of her time surrounded by cables, oscillators, frequencies and machines that make wonderful noises. She’s an electronic musician who builds entire worlds out of sound, exploring the unpredictable possibilities of modular synthesizers. She’s also part of the Berlin music community through her work at SchneidersLaden, where she shares her fascination with these curious instruments.
When we met for portraits, we left the machines behind.
Instead, we went for a walk through Berlin. Her Berlin. From the trees and winding paths of Tiergarten to the streets around Friedrichstraße. We talked, wandered, stopped here and there, and made photographs along the way.
I like the idea of two people who work with analogue machines meeting without any machines between them. Well, almost. I did bring a camera.
No studio, no elaborate production. Just Jessica, the city she calls home, and a little time to discover each other.
Sometimes that’s all a portrait needs.
