The first time I met Romi, things were relatively straightforward. A camera, the streets of Paris, an actress in front of my lens. We walked, talked and made portraits. Two people getting to know each other through photography.

The second time? Well, things got a little stranger.

Romi arrived with another version of herself. Or perhaps someone entirely different. Somewhere during our encounter, the actress became a character, and the portrait session turned into something neither of us had quite anticipated.

That character eventually grew into the central idea and story of a theatre show.

I love when that happens. When a photograph stops being the destination and becomes the beginning of something else.

Two encounters. Same human. A completely different universe the second time around.
